So, I had planned to show you guys something today…
something pretty amazing…
awesome, if you will.
BUT…
you’ll just have to wait a bit longer for…
the big book cover reveal for “Nola Fran Evie“.
(If you’re new here and wondering what the hell I’m talking about, you can go right here and here to catch up.)
Yep, the cover is still in the shop and the official book release is two weeks from today. That’s the lovely thing about being Indie—I can fiddle with things until the last minute and leave you all hanging.
(Insert evil laugh here.)
In the meantime I’ve got a whole social media extravaganza happening if you want to get teased daily with bits and pieces from the book. I got a little misty-eyed when I started tweeting #NolaFranEvie. I never thought a hashtag would give me warm fuzzies, but dammit, it happened.
I’m assuming most of us are already connected, but if we’re not, you know the drill.
Currently in social media land, I’m sharing my favorite retro lines for each of the characters. Yesterday Nola, my Grace Kelly doppelgänger, sassed it up with this vintage-esque stinger…
“Listen pal, I’m nobody’s sweetheart.”
(Ouch!)

Up today from the trio is Fran. As her nickname in the All-American Girls Baseball League happened to be Lippy, you can imagine that she has some colorful remarks.
Stay tuned for the cover reveal next week and another exciting edition of The Life Enthusiast Chronicles on Thursday.
And while we’re on the subject of retro lines, what are your favorite sayings from another era? Ready, set, go!
I am getting to the age where everything that leaves my mouth is probably retro! 😀
You’re the cutest, Gallivanta! Well, I strongly feel that retro is always in, so you’re just the cat’s pajamas. : )
Oh, I like being the cat’s pajamas!
My ubiquitous retro fave: NO DOI.
You goofball…love it!
I don’t watch enough old movies to have any favorite sayings from a bygone era. Well, unless I use something from the 80s, and that would just be cruel. 😉
Looking forward to seeing the cover!
I’m afraid that I used “gag me with a spoon” more than I should have in the 80s. : )
Ha, yes, that and “Up your nose with a rubber hose.” Oops, that might’ve been the 70s…
Haven’t heard that one before…ruh-roh. ; )
That’s probably because you’re too young to remember ‘Welcome Back Kotter.’ At least I think that’s where that lovely phrase originated from.
Congrats!
As for my favorite retro lines, I always love it when tough guys or gals put the word “see” at the end of a sentence.
“I’m gonna walk right out that door, see? And there ain’t nothin’ you can do about it, see?”
Oh, dang…I love that too! I wish I could pull “see” off, but I think I’d need a Bourbon and a cigarette to do it. Too bad! : )
Oh you tease Britt, but not long to wait now until you have to reveal all 🙂
I know, I know. You got me!
“Toto, I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Always makes me cry.
Awesome choice! Much better than my take on the “Wizard of Oz” where I link arms with people and make them skip awkwardly whilst singing “We’re Off to See the Wizard”. : )
Agreed that is a great post-pub routine 🙂
I’m sure I know some fun lines, but I’m the type of person who completely blanks out when I’m asked on the spot. I only know them when I’m pouring breakfast cereal or brushing the dog or weeding the garden. You know. Useful times.
Haha! I’m like that too. It seems like we all have old school sayings that our parents used, or we revived somehow, so I think it’s fun to ask. : )
I will have to dig out an episode of Mad Men to answer that 🙂
Ha! I definitely stole some phrases from that show. Love it!
