Many times I considered giving up on blogging. I always joke around with people that it’s a full-time job, because it kind of is.
If you’re not writing a post, sharing on social, responding to readers, and commenting on other blogs (tired yet?), you’re thinking about your next post and possibly the post after that.
But whenever I think about the “work” that goes into blogging, I think about the “awesome” instead. It’s actually quite easy to do, because there has been a lot of awesome.
Almost three years ago I started this blog, and I am not lying when I say that I had absolutely no freaking clue what I was doing. I knew that it was a big commitment, which is why I shied away from it before and why I refused to take on the responsibility at my job at the time.
I just knew. It’s a lot.
Back then I started a blog because I needed a platform as a writer, especially an Indie Author who nobody would have a chance of hearing about otherwise. I heard phrases like “build a tribe”.
Build a tribe? How in the hell am I supposed to do that? Is anyone ever going to read this crazy shit?
At first, nobody really did. Except for family and friends…thanks, guys. xoxoxo
But then, I started meeting people in the blogging community—people I had never met and had no association with my family or friends who might have forced them to visit. There were some likes, even a few comments, and eventually they shared.
I first came up with the title for this blog, A Physical Perspective, when I felt like I needed some sort of title.
It was thought of on a whim. I remember standing over my dining room table on an evening after work or something and writing it on a notepad.
It’s open to interpretation, which I won’t go into here, but I started thinking recently…who cares?
And, I listened to my people.
It’s very rare when any of you guys even use that name, because you say “Britt’s blog”. So, going into another wild year with this blog, I have ditched my old name.
Many of you were here the other day for Zen’s Life Enthusiast post, and you commented on the new look. Thank you all for your sweet compliments.
I think the space better represents who I am and what I have to say. There’s no need for a fancy blog title that leaves you scratching your head about the meaning.
This is Britt’s blog.
I am a flawed human just like everybody else, and all I do is write nonsense that sometimes makes sense. I am a Life Enthusiast, because I am flawed…and that means I’m alive.
Thank you all for being here. I’m excited to share many more of life’s ridiculously gorgeous moments with you…my tribe.

You scared me for a second, here, Britt… By the title of this post only, I thought you had decided to STOP writing the blog altogether and I was already frying to find very good arguments to convince you otherwise because I’d miss you so much!
But then, it turns out it’s “just” a name change! A change of skin, the caterpillar has changed into the butterfly! And we were there to see it when it happened! we’re so lucky!
This blog is fabulous, your words strike a chord in all of us and your books are just the quintescence of you. You’re a star, and that’s why you’re you and why this blog’s name change is one of the beautiful moments it had to go through.
I know! I went for dramatic effect and it was very effective. Sorry, Juls doll! No need to convince me to stay as I always convince myself that leaving is the last thing I want to do. It’s easy to stick around, because wonderful people like you make everything so much more awesome.

Hi Britt, I totally get what you are saying about the time and effort it takes to blog. For a number of reasons I have been an infrequent blogger/reader/commenter of late, but I like the new look and focus you have created here and hope I’ll be visiting more often going forward. All the best, Tom
We’re all in the same boat, Tom. And those of us juggling full time work and novels are even crazier to keep up with blogging. But it’s enjoyable and a great way to keep our writing skills sharp. Good to “see” you, Tom!

A fresh start, how delightful (that post title was mean, Britt, you gave us all a heart attack!). The blog’s new look is great and the new name brings it back to the essentials. Blogging does take effort, I agree. My goal is always to write one post per month at least and if I have time I do more. I sit down three times a week to read other people’s blogs (except recently as I hurt my shoulder and so typing is limited). Having parameters and limits, as you already know, helps a lot.
I know, it was mean. Sorry! Yes, back to my roots around here. Low maintenance and barefoot as much as possible. 🙂
Having limits is a must. I’ve been reading a lot about productivity lately, and actually that could be a good blog post soon. Since I started my WIP, I wanted to simultaneously free up my Sunday. I managed it last weekend, so I think I’ve got it dialed in.

I’m so psyched I’m part of a tribe. Woo hoo! I love your new name. I liked your old name too, and let me tell you, because it was so unique I knew exactly whose blog it was in the midst of the other 200 I follow. Some titles I had to ask myself “who’s that again?” But not yours.
Having said that, I think we, as bloggers, all grow and change over time. Blogging changes us and improves us. I really believe that. I think your title change is evidence of your growth, a reflection of all you’ve seen and heard and learned over the past 3 years. I think your new title fits your new blogging you. 🙂
